Altınkum Beach

When Didim is mentioned, the first beach that comes to mind is undoubtedly Altınkum Beach. Named after the golden sands on its shore, this beach is very popular and often crowded as it is located in the hotel district.

Altınkum, which has a very shallow and clear sea, is a public Blue Flag beach located only 2 kilometers from the center. Therefore, you do not need to pay any entrance fee. If you want to use a sunbed and umbrella, prices start from 20 TL.

Especially those who plan to spend the weekend at Altınkum should get there early in the morning to find a spot. For those who can't find a place at Altınkum, there are three smaller coves along the same shoreline, named 1st Beach, 2nd Beach, and 3rd Beach.

Akbük Beach

Located 20 kilometers from Didim, Akbük is a much quieter summer area. Both the beach and the sea in Akbük are made up of pure white sand.

Preferred mostly by retirees who want to enjoy a quiet summer, Akbük is also home to many people who have settled there permanently. It's an ideal place for those seeking peace and quiet.

It is also known that British citizens have made significant real estate investments in Akbük. There is no entrance fee for Akbük Beach either.

Monastery Cove and Beach

This beach is preferred by those who have private vehicles and offers a view of the Greek islands.

To reach it, you need to continue on the road towards Didim Marina and follow a dirt road, so the road conditions are not ideal. However, when you arrive, a calm and clean sea awaits you.

Named after the monastery and chapel located within its borders, Monastery Cove is also accessible by bicycle, which is a good option. If you wish to rent a sunbed and umbrella, the fee is 20 TL.

Aquarium Cove and Beach

Unlike the usually shallow sea of Didim, the sea in Aquarium Cove is slightly deeper.

The reason this cove is called “Aquarium” is because of its crystal-clear water and turquoise color. It is also a frequent stop for boat tours.

The most enjoyable way to visit Aquarium Cove is by joining a boat tour, with prices starting from 55 TL. However, you can also reach it by private vehicle.

Dalyanaki Cove and Beach

Another stop of boat tours is Dalyanaki. If coming by car, you need to follow the signs and take an inward turn from the Didim-Akbük road.

It’s hard to say that the cove has sufficient social facilities; it mainly hosts some of the most well-known summer housing sites of Didim.

If you wish to visit here outside of a boat tour, it is advisable to bring a small picnic basket. The calm, wave-free waters of the cove are more than enough to brighten your day.

Akkum Sağtur Beach

Those who want to both swim and camp usually prefer Sağtur Beach, located in Akkum. You can pitch your own tent in the campsite here and enjoy the sound of silence, especially in the spring.

Operated by the municipality, this beach is very clean and budget-friendly. You can rent a sunbed for as little as 10 TL.

As its name suggests, Akkum's sea is made up of pure white sand. You can also have fun with activities like beach volleyball.

Paradise Cove and Beach (Cennet Koyu)

This cove, which is close to the town center and preferred by boat tours, is quite crowded, though not as much as Altınkum.

Located next to Didim Martı Site, the cove has a sunbed capacity of 400 people, shaded areas to sit in, and a small social facility.

How to Get to Didim?

One of the most beloved tourism destinations in the Aegean, Didim is accessible by private car, bus, or airplane.

Bus: Those who prefer to travel by bus can find direct services to Didim from major cities such as Izmir, Istanbul, and Ankara, especially during the summer months. Another way is to take a bus to Izmir or Aydın from anywhere in Turkey and then transfer to a bus heading to Didim. There are buses departing to Didim every hour from both Izmir and Aydın bus terminals.

Air: For those who prefer air travel, the best option is Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport, located 150 km away. Although less frequent, Dalaman Airport (120 km) and Bodrum Milas Airport (90 km) are also viable alternatives.
